If I Rise- October 2013

‘If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.”  Psalm 139:9-10

         There are times in our life we feel alone. Like no one really knows us, not really.  No one can completely know our true hearts; our joy, pains, burdens, fears. At times, even in the midst of a crowd, we can feel alone.

In those moments it is difficult to comprehend how a great God is truly with us. In Psalm 139, David writes, “Oh Lord, You have searched my heart and you know me.” Could it be that the Lord has an intimate interest and knowledge of our heart and spirit? He does! He knows our comings and our goings, is familiar with our ways and our thoughts before a word is even on our tongues. He has us “hemmed in from in front and from behind.”  We are protected from all sides.  The Psalmist goes on to say, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,  Even there your hand will guide me ,Your right hand will hold me fast.” He truly knows us. He protects us. He loves us.
Beloved, we are not alone…
